City of Vice

The first cops – the first cop show.

City of Vice is an historical drama series about the vice-ridden world of Georgian London. It features Henry and John Fielding – magistrates of Westminster – the men who created the modern Police Force. Henry and John are played by Ian McDiarmid and Iain Glenn respectively. They are London’s first ‘cops’ – investigating the lives and crimes of prostitutes, pimps, gamblers and villains (all of them real, researched people). Episodically, we dramatize the true stories of real Georgian characters, while across the series we tell the story of the evolution of the Police Force. Our series will have all the excitement of a contemporary crime series, but will be interlaced with fascinating revelations about the reality of life in seventeenth century London.
