A Harlot's Progress

A series of engravings about a prostitute by 18th century British artist William Hogarth is the inspiration behind this new 1 x 120' historical drama for Channel 4.

The project looks at the facts of Hogarth's life and the subject of his first major series of engravings, which follow the life and death of a 22-year old prostitute arriving in Covent Garden in 18th century London.

Using these tentpoles of truth, as well as the clues that Hogarth left in his engravings, the drama will piece together Hogarth¹s story, suggesting that the prostitute was a real person, and that Hogarth actually knew her. The project is a co-production between Touchpaper Productions and indie Hardy & Sons.
